We had several quality submissions to our caption contest, so thank you to everyone who participated. (See all captions here.) But alas, only one can be declared victorious. We voted by not-so-secret ballot and the winner of the first-ever Head Over Tails Caption Contest is…. Read more »
Stella Goes for the Gold
The Winter Olympics are in full force and for the life of me, I can’t figure out I wasn’t chosen as part of team USA. I’ve looked through the rulebooks and can’t find anything that says cats aren’t allowed to compete. In fact, you would think coaches would be lining up at my door to get me on their team. My size, flexibility and agility make me a better athlete than any of those humans (plus I look good in red, white and blue)! There are several events where I could totally lead the USA to gold! Do You Know the Most Common Pet Health Problem & How to Prevent It?
To most of you humans, February is all about love and groundhogs. I’m not a big fan of Punxatawny Phil and his ego, hogging the spotlight year after year. I lobbied a few years back to turn groundhog’s day into a traveling tradition, changing the mascot each year to give all four-legged creatures a chance to predict the weather. It didn’t work out. But I digress…
For us pets, February is National Pet Dental Health Month. Oral diseases are the most commonly diagnosed health problem for pets. In fact, oral health issues are so common in pets that the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) estimates more than 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats have oral disease by the time they are three years old. Tips (for humans) on Gearing Up for a Vet Visit
My owner just took me in for my regular checkup with the veterinarian. After all of these years with me, you’d think he would know what questions to ask in the vet’s office. But while I stood on that cold metal table getting poked and prodded, he just sat there and watched.
When the vet was done with me, the leash went on and away we went. No questions asked! My owner didn’t realize the opportunity for learning that he just passed up in our few minutes of face-time with the vet. To help all of you make the most of your office visit, I have some tips you can follow… Read more »
Stella Gets a Work Out…and Recommends Some Cat Toys
I am a cat. I have two purposes in life: to get as much rest as I can and to make sure my Human knows that I am Master of the Universe. However, it’s a New Year and I have been inspired to expand my horizons and become a better me. Sure, I love stretching out in my La-Z-Boy, basking in the sun shining in from the window, but I also need to work out. After all, I want to keep my girlish figure. Read more »
How to Puppy-Proof Your Home
I have some experience when it comes to newborns; I was one once. I remember the terror I brought upon my poor unsuspecting new owners. The problem was they didn’t know what to expect, which means they had no idea how to prepare for my arrival and the changes I was to bring to their lives. They sure learned quickly, though! To help any potential new dog owners out there, I thought I would give you a little advice on how to puppy-proof your home. Read more »
The Long Wait for Christmas
‘Tis the day before Christmas and all I can say is thank goodness! I can’t take much more of this waiting for Santa!
The jolly old elf in the red suit got my letter of things he can bring me and wrote me back. All Santa said was for me to stay on the nice list (as if I’m ever not on the nice list). Just to be safe, I’m trying very hard to be even more of an angel than I already am. That’s not to say it’s always easy being good. You have no idea what I have to put up with around here

Keep The Holidays Safe for Your Pet
Woooo-hooo Christmas is here! This is one of my favorite times of year; this and spring time when the backyard is wet and muddy. Oh it’s so much fun to play in the mud! My owner doesn’t agree, but he doesn’t get to run around on all fours…at least not very often. But, back to the holidays! This time of year brings great fun, but it also has a few potential dangers to us pets. Read more »
Stella’s Letter to Jolly Old St. Nick
Dear Santa,
I have been a very, very, very good kitty this year (except for that one incident with Gill the fish, but he started it by making funny faces at me). I have done a lot of great things this past year. First off, I have done an exceptional job at keeping my Human’s lap warm when she’s reading or watching television. I have kept my house free of icky mice. I make sure my floor stays clean when my Human drops food. And I’ve only gotten my claws out when provoked—like when my Human thought it would be a good idea to dress me up for Halloween or when Trusty’s nose got a little to close to my face.
Because I’ll be on your Nice List this year, I thought I’d let you know what you can bring me for Christmas from my favorite shopping site, HeadOverTails.com. Read more »
